The return of the Andrássy archive

Due to COVID-19 the digitization project was suspended for several months. In the meantime, the Department of Archives and Public Records of the Slovak Interior Ministry decided to move the Andrássy archive to Rožňava where they invested in building modern compact storage facilities. In October 2022 the entire Andrássy archive comprising of more than 1250 boxes from the period of 1290-1948 was moved from Levoča to Rožňava. Thanks to this relocation, the family archive was returned to the vicinity of the family estates, Krásna Hôrka Castle and Betliar.

The exclusive contract between the Andrássy Gyula Foundation and the Slovak Ministry of the Interior was extended to 31st December 2024. Since the digitization project restarted in the beginning of 2023 approximately 50% of the documents have been digitized. Completion is expected in 2024.
